Mr. Paskel is a founder of Paskel, Tashman & Walker, P.C., and he has practiced law for over 40 years. His many honors include recognition from the Wayne County Board of Commissioners for “outstanding advocacy for low-income people” and “community service,” “Christian man of the year” from the historic Little Rock Baptist Church of Detroit, and multiple listings as one of the “Top Michigan Lawyers” by the Detroit News and New York Times. Mr. Paskel acts as his firm’s senior partner and, though the firm is full service, concentrates his practice on catastrophic injury cases. He has tried cases in Michigan and around the country. Mr. Paskel is a member of the Million and Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forums.

Brian L. Walker

Mr. Walker, a senior partner, obtained his J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1987. He has spent his entire career with the firm. Mr. Walker concentrates his practice in the areas of employment law, labor law, probate and estate planning, and divorce. Mr. Walker is politically active and supports nonpartisan legislation designed to enhance the lives of Michigan citizens.

Michael S. Tashman

Mr. Tashman, a senior partner, began his tenure with Paskel, Tashman & Walker, P.C. immediately following his 1970 graduation from Wayne State University Law School and admission to the bar. He is a tort litigation and research specialist. He has devoted his career to representing victims maimed, injured, or killed by individual and industrial negligence.

Michael J. Cantor

Mr. Cantor has spent more than 30 years in the practice of law dedicated to obtaining benefits for injured workers and their families. He specializes in Michigan workers compensation and Social Security Disability claims including SSI. Mr. Cantor is an active member of the Michigan Association for Justice and the National Organization of Social Security Claimants Representatives. He has co-authored two seminars on handling Social Security claims in Michigan. Mr. Cantor is authorized to practice before all Michigan state and federal courts, including the Sixth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court and has appeared in several federal courts outside of Michigan.

Michael Zavier

Mr. Zavier joined Paskel, Tashman & Walker, P.C. in December 2013. He attended Michigan State University, graduating from the Eli Broad School of Business with a major in General Business Administration. He earned his J.D. from Wayne State University Law School in 2012, and is now licensed to practice in the State of Michigan and United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. While in law school, he served as a judicial extern for the Hon. Richard Bl. Halloran, of the Wayne County Circuit Court. Mr. Zavier concentrates his practice in catastrophic injuries, medical malpractice, civil rights, and police misconduct.

Maro Sarah Houhanisin

Ms. Houhanisin earned her Bachelor of Science in Political Science, with minors in Criminal Justice and History from Grand Valley State University in May 2010, and her Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in May 2013. During law school, Ms. Houhanisin was a member of the Law Review, eventually earning a scholarship as a Title Editor and was awarded the Outstanding Editor of the Year award for 2013. She concentrates her practice on family law, criminal law, estate planning and general civil litigation. Ms. Houhanisin is licensed to practice law in Michigan, is a member of the State Bar and the Women’s Lawyers Association of Michigan – Wayne Region.

Jessica Francis

While attending Concordia University Wisconsin, Mrs. Francis obtained a Bachelors of Science in Justice and Public Policy with a Pre-Law minor. She went on to Thomas M. Cooley to obtain her Juris Doctor. While attending law school, Mrs. Francis pursued education and training in family law, probate issues, and abuse and neglect. Mrs. Francis joined Paskel, Tashman & Walker in February 2014, after working for Legal Services where she helped indigent clients understand the court process. Mrs. Francis is licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan and is a member in good standing with the State Bar. Today, Mrs. Francis spends a majority of her time handling divorce and child custody cases.

Jason P. Dandy

Mr. Dandy earned his Bachelor’s of Arts from the University of Michigan in 1997, Ann Arbor, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in 2006. He is admitted to practice in Michigan courts as well as the Eastern District of Michigan, Sixth Circuit, and has successfully argued before the Michigan Court of Appeals. He has been actively practicing law since passing the bar, and has achieved excellent results for his clients in a diverse range of practice areas. Mr. Dandy has years of experience in probate, estate planning, criminal defense, transactional, family, and personal injury law. He has done pro bono work in many of these practice areas, as well as an area that he is particularly passionate about: animal law. He is a member of the Animal Law section of the State Bar of Michigan, and a tireless advocate for each and every one of his clients.
